Brockton's Hidden Gem - JJ's Cafe
If you haven't heard about JJ's Cafe by now, I'm assuming that you live on a different planet than the rest of us.
If it hadn't been for my friend, Barbara, who introduced me to this place a couple years ago, I would've continued to drive past this hidden gem every day.
Their shine is well-deserved and I haven't been disappointed by anything on the menu so far. It's a small spot, so I would suggest arriving sooner, as it begins to crowd quickly especially after Sunday church. Recently, they added paintings of Black women to their decor which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE! Major kudos for that!
Let's get onto the food:
Duchess Benedict was my first love at JJ's! Grilled english muffins are topped with a medley of lobster, crab, peppers, and onions.
I'm telling you, if you see this on the menu, DO NOT PASS IT UP! ORDER IT!
Between the flavors and the delicacy of the lobster and crab, I was in foodie heaven. They add 2 poached eggs on top with a whole grain mustard cream. Getting a little bit of everything in each bite is promising for sending you into a food coma after. I recently visited last month in January and they did have it again on the menu which was to my delight.
Their Fogo sauce is FIRE! It's honestly one of the best hot sauces I've had so far in life. It's definitely "hot sauce in my bag" worthy. I honestly despise watery hot sauces; I like 'em thick. Dab that bad boy on everything! The home fries, the eggs, the breakfast burrito.
If you have a sweet tooth, then the Creme Brûlée French Toast is right up your alley. It's topped with a housemade apple cinnamon syrup and creme fraiche.
For my big eaters, the Hangover Benedict is perfect. Classic steak eggs paired with a side of home fries. I wasn't even a steak and egg eater before; that was so bizarre to me for some reason. However, after this meal, I'm sold on the combination. The demi-glace is the perfect sauce for this as it compliments the angus sirloin.
I just thought I'd share a photo of one of the paintings on the wall!
