Brunching It In CT

Unless you're a CT native, Connecticut is just another state making the drive longer to NY from Boston. Digging deeper into what it has to offer, I've stumbled across some great spots that have even become some of my favorites!

TOP-OFF Burger | Flying Monkey, Hartford, CT

Let's be real, that drive from Boston to NY is such a long ride and Connecticut holds at least 2 hours of that space. Honestly though, if you ever have a chance to really stop and check out spots here; some may become your favorites the way they have become mine.

Nothing says the weekend like brunch and bottomless mimosas! While in Hartford visiting Jess, we decided to grab brunch at the Flying Monkey Grill & Bar. The location itself is interesting. It's situated at Brainard Airport where you can watch planes take flight and land. Very appropriate for the restaurant name. Brunch here includes a mimosa bar if you're up to pretending to be a world-class bartender; I know I was! Some ginger here, bourbon there, you honestly couldn't tell me that my mixology game was dry. With so many choices on the menu for food, I ended up giving my heart to the TOP-OFF burger: "Half-pound Angus beef, grilled to order. Topped with Swiss cheese, honey jalapeño infused bacon, an egg cooked over easy. Served on a brioche roll with Sriracha mayo and a side of home fries tossed with fried hot cherry peppers." I've literally been day-dreaming about this burger ever since!

When you're looking to enjoy brunch out on the patio, Butchers & Bakers is your spot!

Chilaquiles | Butchers & Bakers, Farmington, CT

When you're looking to enjoy brunch out on the patio, Butchers & Bakers is your spot!

Butchers & Bakers is an Italian-inspired gastropub that offers coal-fired pizzas and plates that feature locally-sourced ingredients when possible. Its rustic-chic design boasts exposed brick, one of my favorite features at restaurants. Whether dining inside or outside, the space is great for large groups.

We decided to dine here for Sunday brunch, making it just in time to enjoy the bottomless cocktail special. I ordered the Whiskey Smash, which was right up my alley as a Bourban-lover. Aside from bottomless cocktails, there are a variety of drinks to choose from. The pitcher of sangria is perfect for sharing with friends and family.

Pictured are Chilaquiles, fennel sausage pizza, and fish and chips: all good choices. The Chilaquiles is made with their house sausage and the pizza dough is made in-house daily by their bakers, super on-brand for the name 'Butchers and Bakers'.

If you're ever around Connecticut and looking to vibe out on the patio with great cocktails, head over here!
