Capturing #BlackGirlMagic in The District
Welcome to my first post!
My name is Deige and I love to eat. I’m not a cook or chef. I figure after watching hours of Chopped and other Food Network shows, one day I’ll quit my daytime job at 40 and become one. For now, I’m a local taste-tester AKA a foodie.
A couple weeks back, my girls decided on coming together for a Friendsgiving. All but two of us reside outside of Massachusetts, so imagine my delight in travelling to D.C. for the first time and for Friendsgiving at that!
“Each Queen shared a little bit of herself in every dish prepared, her Love extending to the next..”
I could share the entire experience of D.C., but I’ll share that in the next post. This one is all about the Friendsgiving itself. It’s truly a lovely experience to indulge in both new and old friendships. Every Queen shared a little bit of herself in every dish prepared, her Love extending to the next. From the sprinkles of brown sugar that touched our sweet potato souls to the empanadas that ignited a Latin flare in us.
I could sit and write about each dish, but a picture is always worth a thousand words and I would hope to share a story that would pull you into the room with us.
My vision for creating a site to show my experience was pushed up to this moment right now. Taking inspiration from each Queen, I realized why not? The theme became about having it all. Between the food, laughs, games, kicking back and watching Girls Trip, & shaking yams, I got my healthy dose of BlackGirlMagic that weekend.
